TickleMon, the “host” of our videos, is the first of a planned handful of original, fanciful, and engaging characters Make Baby Laugh! expects to develop. TickleMon genesis can be traced back to our founder's love of his son’s laughter, much like the company itself.

Well before launching Make Baby Laugh!, our founder created a TickleMon soft toy which he used to make his baby laugh. The creation of the character started when he realized that the one sure thing that he knew made his son laugh (and most other kids for that matter) was gentle tickling. So our founder decided to create a character that he would use to tickle his boy and decided that the name of the character needed to use the root word “tickle.”

He ultimately was christened TickleMon because the name originally considered — “Tickle Monster” — was deemed too scary for an 18-month-old child so he lopped off the “ster,” stuck the “Mon” on the end of “tickle” and thus, TickleMon. Once he was name TickleMon, our founder immediately thought of dreadlocks (which he terms, “Ticklelocks”) and how great these would be for tickling his boy so he sewed them on his hand puppet.

For over a year our founder and his son played with the TickleMon hand puppet until the original soft toy fell apart. When the decision was made to launch Make Baby Laugh!, it became quite natural for us to work TickleMon into our videos given the hours of fun our founder had using this character to prompt his son’s laughter.

The animated version of our TickleMon character is intended to increase our video’s quotient of absurdity, incongruity, surprise and gentle tickling — the very things that make very young children laugh. We hope that you find TickleMon a lovable, friendly, and supportive little character and that he makes your kids laugh.

If you’re curious, TickleMon is roughly 18" tall and is strong as an ant. He possess magical Ticklelocks which he uses to tickle children. TickleMon can control his Ticklelocks much like an octopus controls his tentacles. As shown in one animated vignette in Giggle Together!, TickleMon uses these magical appendages to tickle a little girl.

We hope that TickleMon stays around for a long while and that our success will allow us to introduce new characters such as the fellow to the right, who we call TicklePup.
